A New Adventure Begins
I have been at odds with this section of the website since we made it available. I have gone back and forth as to the purpose of my corner and have never really found the outlet it should serve. One thing I have learned from being on the road with Lisa for over 11 years is we have a very strong supportive extended family out there. I have been moved to tears many times over the years with the personal stories people have shared with me. I feel very fortunate and blessed to be a part of so many lives. We each struggle with different things in our lives, but we band together and share stories and help support each other to make our small imprint on this life. We all strive to make some kind of difference in the lives of children and in our own personal lives as well.
With that in mind, I have decided to use this venue to share my current adventure; struggles and triumphs alike to help me stay honest to my quest and share my story with you.
One of my life long struggles has been my weight. I know I will never be a Calvin Klein model, but I would like to be able to put on my shoes without getting out of breath!! Additional personal vices include cigar smoking and a general lack of desire to exercise.
I have decided to tackle all these challenges at one time and aspire to live a long and healthy lifestyle. With that in mind I have decided to run the Rochester Marathon in September 2009.
My goals will be to lose at least 75 pounds, stop smoking for good, and include regular exercise into my life. Today is the first step towards those goals. I plan to write about the experience or vent/spew the daily trials and tribulations. My hope is this will help me keep on track and provide you with some entertainment along the way.
Today is November 25, 2008. I am 9 days into the no smoking routine. Today I met with my doctor and started my doctor supervised diet. My start weight is 326 pounds. I will meet with my gym trainer later this week to start my cardio workout routine. My goal is to focus on weight loss for the next 3 months and then I will start a running program to build endurance for the marathon. The training will take me up to September 13, 2009. The day of the Rochester Marathon.
I am excited and scared at the same time, but my mood is good and my spirits are high. So here we go. See you on the road!!
